I had a chat with a friend recently concerning the above title and I gave an advice which I believe would be useful to others that may/will be/are in the same shoes. Below is a screen shot and the text version thereafter.
Do u kw of any professional courses in mass comm i can do while serving
Mass Communication dosn’t have professional courses per say
But if you want to venture into Advertising or Public Relations that’s where you can find a professional body or course
After school, everything is now specialised
No longer as a Whole
But in Specifics
I’d advise you do a management professional course
Very good and ideal for fresh graduates
Nigeria Institute of Management is very very okay
Then after that (during your NYSC) when u pass out, you can look for another to do…
That is more specialized and related to the job you’ll secure.
That’s not bad
So as a guilder which would u advise i do first
Maybe on Pr
U want to go into Public Relations?
What about it
Abeg advise on that area
There is Nigerian Institute of Public Relations
You could do that during service
Whats d difference between PR and Management
You should know that, except you are so sure you’re venturing into PR, this will be relevant
Otherwise Management is beta right
But if you are a fresh graduate that may apply for Graduate Trainee jobs after service, then the company will fix you into a department that best fits your talent or skill, a Management Course is most ideal. Then you can go for a PR course when u eventually get into PR
Graduate trainee jobs? Whats that
That’s a job title not specifically to any job
That’s what big companies do
Then they will train you on the job and fix u in a department of your strength
So u advise i go for a management course right?
I think its simply perfect
Go for a management course
Companies want leaders
People who can manage…
